About the Role
Reporting to the Manager Power & Gas, in the capacity of Scheduling Specialist, you will ensure effective management of the natural gas supply chain process related to BHP’s gas procurement activities in Western Australia. Along with supporting day to day flow assurance, as part of the Inbound Energy and Carbon Offsets team, this role will have the opportunity to assist with BHP’s energy transition and decarbonization efforts in Australia.
In addition, key responsibilities will include:
- Focusing on safety and performance aligned to BHP’s governance and regulatory requirements
- Establishing logistic plans and schedules for natural gas pipeline deliveries from multiple supply production points
- Ensuring accurate and timely execution and administration of Western Australia scheduling activities in line with gas sales and transport agreements, including submitting and optimizing nominations, taking into consideration ongoing imbalances / contractual limits and relevant timings and procedures
- Developing a deep understanding of commercial contracts and offtake agreements to identify key scheduling levers
- Monitoring contract performance and advising on options to optimize contracts and minimize executional risks
- Communicating any logistical issues that may impact deliveries and administer effective crisis management strategies as and when supply chain disruptions occur
- Performing future scenario planning and communicate outcomes to enable more informed decision making
- Ensuring the business is compliant with market rules by keeping up to date with changes in gas market. Performing regular reviews to ensure operations are compliant with market rules.
- Contributing to projects focused on BHP’s energy transition and decarbonization efforts, in particular with respect to renewable power, fuels and carbon offset opportunities
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be a collaborative individual with excellent data modelling and forecasting skills gained within the Petroleum / gas / liquids scheduling environment. You possess a sound understanding of the Western Australian Gas Market, are team oriented and results focused with a demonstrated track record in problem solving and delivering successful outcomes within a timely manner.
In addition, we are ideally looking for the following skills and experience:
- Knowledge of marketing, technical and commercial issues associated with the gas industry
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated experience with Allegro software highly regarded
- Advanced analytical skills
- Excellent communication, facilitation, influencing and interpersonal skills, essential to building constructive relationships and credibility with diverse stakeholders
- Experience working with and negotiating commercial contracts and proven ability to identify and execute operational terms
- Ability to work unsupervised and manage a significant portfolio base
- Tertiary qualification in a discipline with a strong quantitative methods component (logistics, supply chain, mathematics, engineering, computing, finance or marketing),
- Post-qualification experience in mining and resources sector well regarded
- Experience in electricity markets, although not necessary would be well regarded
