About the role
Finding better ways to provide the materials the world needs. We are looking for a Junior Scrum Master who is excited about learning, growing, and making a significant impact in the world of Agile project management. This is an excellent position for someone who is passionate about Agile methodologies and wants to kickstart their career as a Scrum Master.
As a Scrum Master, you will be an integral part of our organization's digital transformation journey. You will work closely with experienced Scrum Masters and teams to accelerate the innovation and delivery of various processes and products within our Products and Software Development (P&SD) department. Your role will be instrumental in ensuring effective collaboration and the delivery of high-quality products.

As a Scrum Master, your role will include the following responsibilities while receiving training, support, mentorship, and coaching:
- Champion and promote Agile ways of working within the team.
- Participate in facilitating Scrum ceremonies, Agile events, and coaching team members on Agile values and practices.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure they become fully functional and productive. Work toward maximizing the team's throughput.
- Enable effective working relationships between product and engineering teams. Assist in facilitating the delivery of agreed scope while adhering to established quality standards.
- Collaborate with the Product Owner and engineering team, learning how to influence the arrangement of the backlog to maximize value. Work toward establishing techniques for effective product backlog management.
- Maintain and enhance your knowledge of relevant methodologies, technical advancements, market trends, and specialized areas.
What you’ll bring
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- Relevant education in information technology or related discipline.
- Proficient knowledge of Agile methodologies, including Scrum and an understanding of Agile values and practices.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and facilitate working relationships.
- Ability to adapt and remain composed under pressure while learning to manage multiple competing priorities.
- Excellent communication and basic coaching skills.
- Possess innate people-oriented approach.
- Foundational understanding of the application delivery, maintenance, and support lifecycle.
- Attention to detail.
- Commitment to fast-paced learning.
- High emotional intelligence.
- 1-3 years of experience in a Scrum Master role or equivalent experience through internships.

Where you’ll be working
Within our company wide Information Systems & Technology function, we are building an internal software development and delivery team focussing on high value and strategic products for the digital transformation of Rio Tinto. We are building this capability and capacity with the support of a strategic partnership with Endava, one of the world’s leading software engineering companies.
