Job Tasks and Responsibilities

What We’re looking For

Based on site at Moolarben Coal Operations and reporting to the Commercial Superintendent, you will be a part of the Complex Commercial team. This role presents an exciting opportunity to support a large mining operation, with exposure to both Open Cut and Underground mining operations. Working closely with operational departments, you will play an integral role in providing commercial guidance to drive a sustainable, cost-effective business.

Key responsibilities:

  • Preparation of month end accounts and management reporting.
  • Drive financial controls in line with company policy and accounting standards.
  • Key contributor to cost build up, analysis and other information for the monthly forecast and annual budgeting process.
  • Cost reporting and analysis to support sound business decisions and drive cost savings.
  • Partner with operational departments to support commercial decision making.
  • Facilitate cost review meetings with department leads, including identifying key variances to budget and providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Support asset management process including assisting in the preparation of capital expenditure requests and ensuring timely capitalisation of completed projects.
  • General ledger and asset register maintenance. 

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years' post qualification experience – mining or heavy industry experience preferred.
  • Tertiary qualification in Bachelor of Commerce or Bachelor of Business.
  • CPA or CA qualified.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including an outcome focused mindset and the ability to communicate effectively and influence leaders.
  • Well organised and confident in managing a substantial workload and competing priorities.
  • Be a team player with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse workforce.
