About the Business
Owned and Operated by Yancoal Australia, Mount Thorley Warkworth (MTW) is one of the largest open pit operations in the area. Located 15 kilometres south-west of Singleton in the beautiful Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, MTW relies on both draglines and load haul systems as the current and preferred mining method. Our site operates continuously 24 hours a day, seven days a week and has a long and proud history, employing approximately 1350 people from local and surrounding communities, who are our most valuable asset.
Job Tasks and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Commercial Superintendent, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Accountant to join our Team at MTW. As an integral part of our organisation, you'll have the opportunity to play a key role in our success. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional to thrive in a dynamic environment.
This role is responsible for:
• Monthly management of site reporting and financial reporting; • Preparation of the statutory accounts at half year and year end in accordance with Yancoal Australia reporting deadlines; • Month end processing; • Mine site profit/loss reporting including commentary/analysis and project reporting; • Financial modelling/ forecasting; • Participating in the budget process; • Joint Venture reporting; • Reviewing and preparing capital requests.
Skills and Experience
To be successful you will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience: • 5+ years Accounting experience; • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills; • Degree qualified (Accounting or Commerce); • CPA/CA designation or currently studying towards; • Highly developed stakeholder engagement skills; • Demonstrated experience with Procurement processes, reviewing contracts and contract management; • Analytical skills and ability to apply problem solving techniques to accounting functions; • Excellent coordination and ability to manage competing priorities within set deadlines; • Demonstrated advanced computer literacy and a strong attention to detail; • Competent in SAP accounting processes; • Experienced with the use of Xeras forecasting and budgeting (desirable however not essential).
