About the role
We are seeking a Senior Adviser Health to provide technical assistance, support and expert advice on health standards, systems and processes across RTA. This includes developing, coaching and mentoring other professionals and supporting the decision-making processes of operational leaders.
Reporting to the Manager Health & Hygiene, you will be;
- Adhere to all Rio Tinto Health, Safety and Environment standards, policies and procedures
- Actively foster and communicate a positive safety culture to promote safety awareness and compliance, encouraging prioritisation of safety in all activities and operations
- Work as a trusted advisor to influence and coach for positive change in mindsets, behaviours, practices and processes
- Provide appropriate coaching, mentoring and technical support to operations
- Oversee the design of end-to-end business improvement projects, providing thought leadership on maximising benefits and minimising implementation risks
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying, evaluating and implementing improvement opportunities utilising a range of Rio Tinto best practices
- Manage change through the implementation of new processes and improvement activities
- Partner with functional teams on the deployment of first line assurance activities including first line assurance annual planning.
- Develop strong interfaces and relationships across the site to ensure optimisation of improvements and efficiencies
- Develop strong interfaces and relationships with external partners and stakeholders
- Implement the Rio Tinto health systems and processes within region of accountability and provide support and expertise to the operation.
- Reviews health exposures and current state, recommend and implement solutions to improve health standards across the workforce.
- Ensure compliance to statutory requirements, company policies and practices with regards to health standards.
- Monitor health performance within region of accountability.
- Actively advise the Health, Safety and Environment management team of critical issues and recommend interactions which will contribute to alleviating health risks
What you’ll bring
We are looking for someone who brings:
- Nursing background
- Occupational health experience preferably in an operational site in aluminium smelting, refining or mining
- Knowledge of the principle of occupational health surveillance, injury management, workers’ compensation systems
- Degree in Nursing
- Experience delivering organization-wide initiatives
- Experience with Cority
- Knowledge of occupational health risk management
- Knowledge and understanding of privacy laws
- Previous experience delivering improvement practices in occupational health
- An ability to work collaboratively and engage with a variety of stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes
- Knowledge of OH & S and Workers’ Compensation legislation
