About the role

We are looking for a Senior Advisor in the Rio Tinto Aluminium Business Analysis Team, whose function is to offer insightful, timely and high-quality analysis and commercial advice. You will be a key influencer in major strategic decisions and help to navigate uncertainty and risks to create and protect value for Pacific Operations Alumina assets in the RTA portfolio.This role reports to the Manager Business Analysis, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Business Analysis function to provide quality and effective decision support to RTA Pacific Operations management and Site leaders.
  • Generate and evaluate business cases for investments proposals, commercial and business development opportunities, and strategic initiatives.
  • Reviewing capex and commercial contract proposals to identify and evaluate commercial opportunities.
  • Develop investment committee papers, to present to Rio Tinto senior management.
  • Assess the financial viability of major projects and contracts, utilising appropriate evaluation methods and detailed financial modelling to identify key drivers for optimising project value.
  • Maintaining the business valuation models to support internal business valuation and planning processes.

About youTo be successfully considered for this role, you will possess the following:

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Engineering or similar.
  • Post-graduate Finance, MBA or similar qualification highly desirable for the diversity of role.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial and operational roles, with previous experience in mining and resource industries highly desirable.
  • Experience in managing complex valuation models and distilling key business insights.
  • Be a strategic thinker, have a creative outlook combined with practicality and strategic focus.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, including an ability to build relationships and excellent writing skills.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings and communicate results.
  • Sound values with high business integrity.

Where you will be working

Based in Brisbane, you will be working in the RTA Business Analysis team, which has teams in both Brisbane and Montreal. The Business Analysis team provides challenging and interesting work, in a supportive environment.
