About the role
We are excited to announce an opportunity to join Rio Tinto’s Business Improvement team who are looking for a Senior Advisor, Businesses Improvement Delivery to join the team.
Fantastic opportunity to support the attainment of 'Best Operator’ through expert delivery of RTIO top priority improvement programs / projects. Collaborate with partners from PACE, and Business Improvement (BI) communities in Mines, Ports, Rail and functions to deliver top priorities.
You will collaborate with the BI Community of Practice through standard BI infrastructure and tools (incl. but not limited to Rio Tinto Safe Production System (RTSPS) tools), support delivery of Improvement Lifecycle in RTIO and foster Improvement culture to accelerate Improvement capability.
You’ll be part of a supportive team, supported by your Leader to grow and achieve your own personal goals as well as the goals of the team. You’ll work on a Monday to Friday Perth based roster with flexible working arrangements which will give you more time to spend on the things that are important to you and the people in your life.
Reporting to the Principal, Business Improvement Delivery, you will:
- Deliver and support successful execution of selected RTIO top priority improvement programs / projects identified through Improvement Lifecycle (Embedded, on demand, self service)
- Deliver direct value to RTIO through business prioritised BI coaching model
- Add direct value to Improvement Lifecycle Practice
- Deliver direct value to embedment of RTSPS through utilisation of RTSPS BI related Practices e.g., Kaizen, Practical Problem Solving, and other problem solving frameworks
- Support the embedment of a culture of Improvement across RTIO
- Supplement/establish shared BI systems & tools e.g. Improvement Hub SharePoint, Kaizen Playbook, etc.
- Aligning with BI Capability to enable consistency of BI practice application across RTIO
- Drive capability building into relevant sustainable best for business homes
- Building well-defined, valued & trusted partnerships.
What you’ll bring

- Exceptional communication skills
- Expert in structured problem solving / diagnosis
- Strong capability, training, and coaching ability in – business improvement, facilitation, Lean Six Sigma, and other problem-solving frameworks
- Strong capability and experience applying structured thinking, analysis and insights to frame, solve, and deliver tangible outcomes against complex business problems.
- People leadership, influencing, coaching and stakeholder management skills
- Driving a positive culture through our values of care, courage and curiosity
- Establishing common ways of working with peer group both within and outside team
- Deployment of BI frameworks and tools at network scale
- Understanding of Improvement Lifecycle and Plan Do Check Act frameworks
- Experience delivering large scale transformation projects and delivery of discreet projects (project management)
- A customer centric focus with the ability to lead change through ambiguity
- Comfortable dealing with senior stakeholders

This is a Perth based role working out of our Central Park CBD office building.
