Senior Advisor Climate Change
Work Location: Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: Monday-Friday
Role Overview:
Fortescue takes an industry leading position on reducing emissions by decarbonising our operations and working to deliver solutions and green energy products to the world. The Senior Advisor, Climate Change will work with teams across the business and with external stakeholders to manage climate change matters including best practice delivery, tracking and measurement of performance against our targets, and company disclosure.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide timely expert advice to the business on climate change, including on leading practice, policy frameworks, measurement and carbon offsetting
- Monitor performance against Company targets and support teams across the business to achieve these targets
- Participate in risk assessment processes to ensure climate change risks and opportunities are adequately identified and addressed
- Monitor the global climate change policy and regulatory landscape, providing advice to internal stakeholders on potential implications
- Contribute to the development of government policies and regulations through participation in industry associations and regular liaison with government agencies
- Manage Climate Change disclosure including drafting of the Company's annual Climate Change Report
- Contribute to ESG assessments and undertake benchmarking activities
Education and Experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in environmental management, public policy, sustainability or an equivalent
- Minimum 5-10 years’ experience working in the areas of Climate Change within the resources industry or an ASX listed company
- Demonstrated experience in Australian and international public policy
- Advanced written and interpersonal communication skills
