This Brisbane-based role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of Finance, Procurement, and Operation, driving strategic outcomes that directly impact cost efficiency, contract compliance, and operational excellence. You’ll be a key player in embedding contractor management best practices across multiple sites, with monthly travel to Weipa and additional travel as required.

You’ll work closely with site teams and business partners to unlock value from our contractor engagements, leveraging data, technology, and your commercial acumen to identify opportunities, mitigate risks, and ensure alignment with business goals. This is a high-impact role where your ability to influence, coach, and lead change will be essential to success.

Based in Brisbane, you’ll travel one week per month to Weipa and to other operational sites as needed. You’ll work closely with site teams and business partners to deliver sustainable results and maximise contract value.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of contractor management solutions across regional sitesUse data and technology to identify future contracting opportunities.

  • Coach and influence operational teams to drive contract compliance and financial outcomes.

  • Develop and train contract owners, procurement, and finance teams in best practicesSupport KPI development and performance tracking.

  • Manage frameworks for Management of Change and Productivity systems.

What you’ll bring

  • Strong commercial acumen and experience identifying financial opportunities.

  • Proven contractor management experience.

  • Advanced analytical skills (Excel, Power BI, MiniTab).

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.

  • SAP and Purchase-to-Pay (P2P) expertise.

  • Effective presentation and communication skills

Desirable qualifications and experience

  • Degree in Business, Engineering, Logistics, Marketing, or related field.

  • Experience with Rio Tinto Business Solutions (PAM, MMP).

  • Familiarity with contractor management systems (MCI Track, Avetta).

  • Proficiency in Power BI and SQL.

  • Experience in the metals, mining, or commodities sector
