We are seeking a passionate and engaging Senior Advisor – Finance & Accounting Services (FAS) to partner with the Rio Tinto Aluminium (Pacific Smelters) Business Unit.
Reporting to the Manager Controllership FAS you will work in collaboration with the Closing & Reporting teams and Finance Business Partners (FBP), where you will be responsible for the provision of timely and accurate financial statements, management reporting and analysis in accordance with IFRS and Rio Tinto policies.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Prepare reporting and provide analysis of the monthly, quarterly and annual financial results that will serve for external and management purposes.
- Providing technical accounting and financial advisory support in relation to RTA Pacific Operations Smelters.
- Preparing papers on accounting and reporting treatment of RTA Pacific Operations transactions.
- Ensure compliance with adequate internal controls, SOX standard and Rio Tinto’s accounting policies.
- Partner with various operational, commercial and support teams to enhance financial services provided to the BU.
- Capital expenditure applications accounting review.
- Support the Controllership function to standardise and optimise its processes.
- Provide the required information for internal and external audits.
What you’ll bring
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, with strong technical accounting skills.
- Accounting certification (CA, CPA or equivalent).
- Advanced Excel skills, working knowledge of SAP / BW and Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) skills would be highly desirable.
- Management reporting capability with a mindset to simplify and standardise reporting.
- Ability to make connections between financial information and business activities to provide insightful analysis.
- Very good business acumen, proactive nature and the ability to interact and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
- Experience writing accounting papers is desirable, not essential.
- Knowledge and experience in the mining sector and/or refining process as well as experience working with external auditors or Big 4 audit experience would be highly desirable.
