Our Communities and Social Performance (CSP) Area of Expertise (AoE) is Rio Tinto’s Technical CSP function. It provides support to the business to build respectful and trusted relationships with host communities that deliver sustainable improvements in social and economic outcomes. The AoE works with CSP practitioners and leaders across the business to build capability, support social performance delivery, monitor and respond to emerging trends, and provide assurance and risk management. The AoE also maintains Rio Tinto’s management systems, CSP standards and reporting process.
We are looking for a Senior Advisor, CSP Strategy to join the CSP AoE.
Reporting to the Principal Advisor, Strategy and Integration, you will be responsible for managing a range of initiatives and contributing to the Group-wide CSP Strategy. In this role you will:
- Support strategic planning on CSP, including ongoing monitoring and review of the Global CSP Strategy and CSP integration into Group strategy objectives
- Implement a system to track, monitor and report on key social and human rights issues and trends for internal and external audiences
- Contribute to CSP integration through the management and coordination of the CSP AoE’s Stakeholder Management approach
- Participate on internal and cross-functional working groups and projects to support achievement of Group objectives and the integration of CSP into broader business processes
- Project manage strategic initiatives as required
- Support the annual planning process and monitoring of the AoE’s performance to plan
- Contribute to the communication of Rio Tinto’s CSP approach and outcomes externally (e.g., through the Annual Report and Rio Tinto Website)
- Bringing innovation to the function, facilitating a culture of knowledge sharing and best practice
What you’ll bring
- A commitment to the safety and wellbeing of yourself and your team, and to our values of care, courage and curiosity
- Tertiary qualifications in a social science or related discipline
- Strong knowledge of CSP standards, concepts and emerging social trends
- Ability to build strong and trusting relationships through effective communication and interpersonal skills and work in a networked organization to influence, build consensus and achieve results
- Demonstrated experience in strategy and planning
- Demonstrated problem solving abilities to deliver solutions across the business
- Excellent written communication and writing skills
- Experience in managing multiple projects and deliverables simultaneously, and the ability to prioritize workload
