About the role

As a Senior Advisor Environment, you will interact closely with our key Pacific Operations assets across bauxite mining, refining, and smelting by providing technically sound and timely advice.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years industry experience of relevance to the role, degree qualification in environmental science, management or similar, working knowledge of State (ideally Queensland) and Commonwealth environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks.
Reporting to the Environment Business Partner and working collaboratively with the site-based environment teams, this role is responsible for, but not limited to:
- Supports site environment teams by providing information and guidance on all environmental aspects including environmental risk reduction plans
- Communicates regularly with key stakeholders across the business regarding environmental targets, plans and performance improvement
- Provide projects and environmental advice
- Develop and maintain strong, respectful working relationships
- Adheres and commits to Health, Safety, Environment, Communities, Ethics and Integrity policies and procedures.
What you’ll bring
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate the following:
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related discipline
- Experience in site based operational experience essential, mine closure desirable
- Experience in managing consultants and contractors to deliver large work programs
- Proven capability in the analysis and presentation of environmental data; and
- Ability to work autonomously with reliability and accuracy
- Ability to prioritise competing work load in a dynamic work setting in optimising time and resources to achieve a given outcome
