We are looking for a Senior Advisor Global Leadership Communications and Projects who will play a critical role in managing the quarterly Leadership Matters Live events, support the regular Leadership Collective conferences, create leader packs with onward engagement and manage leadership announcements. Ensuring our communication to our leaders is clear, consistent, relevant and timely, such that key messages reach our leaders effectively, and so our leaders are empowered to effectively lead their team.

This is a great opportunity for a structured and organised thinker who is comfortable working at pace. Reporting to the Director Global Culture, Employee and Leadership Communications, you will be: 

  • Supporting the development and implementation of our Employee Communications strategy by managing all our key leadership communication
  • Running the quarterly Leadership Matters live virtual events, so that our leaders understand and feel connected to our performance and the levers contributing to results
  • Supporting on the regular Leadership Collective Events events for our Top 700 leaders
  • Manage Leader announcements, as needed
  • Support on Leadership Matters, as needed
  • Manage culture projects as needed to support our cultural transformation
  • Support our Strategy Matters events for our top 100 leaders
  • Work in partnership with our PG and functional partners, so ensure we utilise all leader focused channels to maximise impact and reach of leader messaging and communication 
  • Ensure we have sharing of best practice, resource and create templates, so we use our learnings and experience most effectively across our partnering community, so leader messages and tools are embedded into our core Rio functional and group wide channels
  • Building connections with our Business Partners and other teams within Communications and the wider business 
  • Work and manage senior leaders as part of execution of communications
  • Manage dates and cadence of our key global leader channels
  • Act as an active and noisy advocate for an evolved culture in Communications (focused, expert, fun and dynamic), helping to bring team members with us as we build an effective and connected function.
  • Be an enabler for brilliance across the whole function

What you’ll bring 

  • At least 5 years’ experience in employee communications.
  • Proven ability to manage and engage senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and to manage multiple streams of work simultaneously.
  • A high level of diplomacy and the ability to manage conflict and gain consensus.
  • Demonstrated highly collaborative behaviour and ability to derive value from the broader organisation through sharing knowledge, experience, and skills. 
  • Extremely organised.
  • A demonstrated collegiate approach and proven track record of excellent teamwork with senior peers.
  • Courageous and driven to try new ways of doing things to maximise impact of channels and content.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

It will also be beneficial if you have:

  • Strong written French skills (in addition to fluency in English) for occasional translation reviews.
