Macmahon is accepting applications for the role of Senior HSEQ Advisor to join our Perth based HSEQ Team. This is a permanent full-time position based at our Head Office near the Perth Airport T1/T2 terminals. This role will suit an experienced professional with demonstrated experience 10 years.

Reporting to the HSEQ Superintendent, you will contribute to the achievement of the underground project’s Safety and Health Objectives by ensuring that sites are supported through systems training and mentoring and  comply with Statutory, Contractual and Safety Management System obligations.

The role focus

  • Promote initiatives that support our HSE Culture and a commitment to Our Vision and Values.
  • Ensure safety systems and procedures are followed to ensure adherence with legislative requirements.
  • Ensure effective implementation to the systems and processes outlined in the HSEQ Management Plan.
  • Ensure compliance to the systems and processes outlined in the HSEQ Management Plan
  • Actively involve and coach project supervisors and personnel to support their ongoing development and knowledge of Safety processes and practices.
  • Assist/facilitate with ICAM accident / incident investigations as required
  • Facilitate risk assessments to support operations and their ability to control and reduce risks across our activities.
  • Provide site start up HSEQ support. 
  • Maintain and review site corrective action and hazard reporting processes
  • Complete site inspections and audits in line with the group annual safety planner and site-based activity planners 
  • Complete monthly safety reporting and the daily inputs into the company’s event management system
  • Monitor the mental health of our people and refer them to the EAP services as needed

The ideal candidate

  • Previous mining or civil construction experience in a similar role
  • Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent
  • Experience in HSEQ management systems and the ability to implement HSEQ management plan deliverables
  • Experience in leading and facilitating risk management activities and workshops for the business
  • Working knowledge of the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 & Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022, and similar legislation in other states.
  • Travel to remote mine sites as required, this includes completing roster cycle at times 
  • Qualification in incident investigation methodology, such as ICAM
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication and engagement skills
  • High level of computer literacy
  • A positive and proactive approach with a strong desire to succeed in the role 
  • A passion for health, safety, environment and quality
  • Current Manual WA Drivers Licence – C class minimum
