Senior Advisor - HSEQ Surface & Civil Operations

Macmahon has an exciting opportunity for a Senior HSEQ Advisor to join the HSEQ – Surface & Civil team in Perth. Reporting to the Superintendent – HSEQ Surface & Civil, the purpose of this role is to support governance processes that span Surface Mining and Civil construction operations.  

The Perth office is strategically located at the Airport (T1/T2) and boasts an impressive staff gym with personal and group training, free secure undercover parking, and electric vehicle charging stations. 

The role focus

• Support governance processes across all Macmahon’s Surface mining and Civil construction operations
• Coordinate, communicate and monitor compliance to the Macmahon Integrated Management Standards and associated processes
• Regular travel to Surface mining and Civil construction sites as required
• Assist in HSEQ planning and requirements for the Surface and Civil sites and business units
• Provide offsite support and guidance to operational site HSEQ team members and Surface and Civil leaders
• Work with site teams to ensure overall HSEQ alignment with Group and Surface and Civil requirements

Essential qualifications and attributes 

• Surface mining and/or civil construction experience in a similar role
• Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Cert IV OHS/WHS or equivalent
• ICAM and/or Root Cause Analysis training and certification
• Working knowledge of WHS Acts and Regs and able to interpret legislation
• Professional interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to train, mentor and influence others
• Intermediate or Advanced computer skills
• Experience working in remote locations
• Available to travel to site at short notice
• Ability to adapt to different projects / different client requirements
• Knowledge and skills related to processes and methods of work

• Lead auditor status and associated HSEQ management systems training
• Senior First Aid Certificate
