The Opportunity
Reporting into our Superintendent- Human Resources, our Telfer Operations in Australia has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Advisor - Human Resources to support our site with HR activities. This role will offer a dynamic and challenging environment for an experienced and motivated HR professional.
Roster: Full time FIFO from Perth, 8 Days on 6 days off roster.
Site: Newmont Telfer Operations – Gold and Copper Mine, located 2 hours from Perth in the Great Sandy Desert of Western Australia.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert HR advice to leaders, ensuring alignment with organisational strategic objectives, policies, regulations, and legislation, including the NES and Fair Work Act.
- Facilitate training sessions and workshops for employees and leaders on topics such as appropriate workplace behaviour and leadership development.
- Offer best practice advice and support during disciplinary investigations, conflict resolution sessions, and terminations of employment.
- Collect and interpret HR data to create reports on metrics such as case management, leave management, unplanned absences, and overtime. Use this data to make recommendations on HR strategies and initiatives.
- Identify areas for improvement in HR services through data analysis, ensuring practices are cost-effective and efficient. Implement and manage business improvement initiatives by continuously reviewing processes and procedures to maintain best practices.
- Demonstrate a personal commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and social responsibility.
- Foster an organisational culture that reflects Newmont's values, policies, and legislative intent.
About You
As a seasoned HR professional, we are seeking an individual who can bring a wealth of experience and expertise to our Telfer Operations. You will be passionate about developing leaders and fostering a positive working culture.
Your qualifications and experience will also include:
- Tertiary qualification in HR, Industrial Relations, or Social Sciences.
- At least 5 years of experience in a Senior Generalist HR role, with a preference for remote mine site experience.
- Familiarity with Employee Relations and Workers Compensation legislation.
- Excellent IT skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. HR systems knowledge such as SAP would be desirable.
- Strong ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people.
- Proven conflict resolution skills.
