About the role

We are looking for a proactive, highly energetic person to ensure effective obligation management within the Joint Venture framework, fostering strong relationships with stakeholders and acting as an internal advisor to the business.

Reporting to the Manager Governance & Compliance and working in a diverse team within the Finance stream, you will:

  • Act as the key support for Joint Venture Managers in ensuring compliance with JV agreements, while maintaining alignment with Rio Tinto’s strategic objectives.​

  • Serve as the central contact between Rio Tinto and JV partners for day-to-day matters, addressing routine issues and escalating complex challenges to the relevant JV Manager as needed.​

  • Oversee compliance with JV obligations, including problem solving, detailed analysis and support to ensure adherence to frameworks.​

  • Prepare and review monthly reports, offering insights and recommendations to JV Managers to inform strategic decisions.​

  • Assist in the preparation of annual JV operating and capital budgets, ensuring alignment with broader RTIO budgets and providing necessary data for final approval.​

  • Deliver insights and analysis through clear, concise reporting to stakeholders, ensuring that JV Managers are equipped with accurate information for high-level discussions.​

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with JV participants, ensuring effective communication and timely resolution of routine issues.​

  • Foster communication and collaboration between various Rio Tinto departments to support the achievement of JV objectives, working closely with JV Managers to align on strategic goals.​

  • Assist in the co-ordination, preparation and analysis of RTIO’s insurance requirements.​

What you’ll bring

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.

  • Holds a Bachelor's degree or equivalent.

  • Preferably finance background with key commercial and operations expertise. Skills in Finance automation highly regarded.

  • Collaborative approach to build strong ties with RTIO Legal, Business Development, and Joint Venture counterparts.

  • Continuous Improvement mindset – ability to identify and implement governance process enhancements.

  • A passion and interest to understand complex joint venture and infrastructure agreements.

Where you’ll be workingIn the Pilbara region of Western Australia, we own an integrated portfolio of iron ore assets: a world-class, integrated network of 16 mines, four independent port terminals, a 1,700 kilometre rail network and related infrastructure – all designed to respond rapidly to changes in demand. We are one of the world’s leading producers and exporters of iron ore.

This role will be Perth based in our Central Park head office with flexible working arrangements on offer. There will be adhoc travel required with this role.
