We have an opportunity for a Senior Advisor Project Controls to play a key role in the Owners Team project controls function in Rio Tinto Energy Development (RTED) and is expected to continue throughout the Aurora program of works, which is a portfolio of renewable energy projects across the Pilbara region.

You will be part of a small owner’s project controls team covering cost control, planning & scheduling, progress measurement and reporting. You will be responsible for the Aurora cost budget, progress measurement and have governance role over the EPC / EPCM contractors as they report into the overall program of works.

Reporting to the Senior Manager RTED Project Services, working in a collaborative and exciting environment, you will be responsible for:

  • The development of control accounts and control budget
  • Maintaining and reporting on the project forecast.
  • Setup and issuance of cost reports, including cash flow, incurred & commitment curves.
  • SAP interface with Cost control
  • Supervision and reconciliation of SAP commitment & actual with project cost control
  • Review and analyse of the recharge process
  • owners invoice processing & accruals reconciliations
  • Development of Final Forecast Cost (FFC) and proactive identification of risks and mitigation.
  • Proactive analyses of cost data and report findings to the project team.
  • Supporting the implementation of effective contingency and change management process.
  • Supporting the setup and implementation of project progress measurement practices.
  • Identifying improvement opportunities for streamlining work process.
  • Supporting the development and maintenance of project controls procedures, including contingency and change management, forecasting, accruals & forex.
  • Supporting compliance with standardised processes, systems and tools.
  • Interfacing with the EPC / EPCM, finance, procurement & contracts, engineering, construction and estimating groups to ensure accuracy in all project control issues.
  • Providing technical project control support to project stakeholders.

What you will bring

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Have held a similar role in an Owners or EPCM team
  • Extensive experience in cost control roles and exposure to mega projects >$1bn
  • Proven experience as per the role accountabilities
  • Experience in the renewable energy sector an advantage
  • Proficiency in the use of cost management databases (Prism, Ecosys, CMS)
  • Knowledge of SAP is an advantage
  • Excellent Microsoft office skills are required
