We are looking for a Senior Advisor Shutdown Leading Practices to join and support our Operational Excellence Shutdown Team within the Pilbara Mines Operation. This role presents a fantastic opportunity for experienced personnel to lead, coach, and develop shutdown planners and execution teams, ensuring work management processes are structured, repeatable, and aligned with best practices. You will play a key role in standardizing work development, maintaining data integrity, and optimizing work execution processes.
You’ll work 8 days on, 6 days off roster which will give you more time to spend on the things that are important to you and the people in your life.
Reporting to the Principal Fixed Plant Shutdowns, you will:
Adhere to all Rio Tinto standards, policies and procedures
Actively foster and communicate a positive safety culture to promote safety awareness and compliance, encouraging prioritisation of safety in all activities and operations
Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying, evaluating and implementing improvement opportunities utilising a range of Rio Tinto best practices
Ensure all mining activities undertaken are in compliance with all relevant statutory regulations and RTIO standards and policies

Extensive experience in shutdown scheduling, planning, or project scheduling.
A strategic mindset with the ability to optimize schedules and align priorities.
Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with a passion for coaching planners, schedulers and Shut execution leaders
Experience in critical path analysis, schedule management, and creative mindset that keeps all aspects of a safe and executable schedule in mind.
A proven ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders across multi-disciplinary groups and align scheduling efforts with execution needs while fostering collaboration.
Coach and mentor teams on structured shutdown ramp-down and start-up execution.
Guide teams through permit management, isolations, washdowns, and commissioning.
Develop and embed ramp-down best practices, ensuring shutdowns exit safely and efficiently.
Act as a coaching leader, helping teams troubleshoot and optimize shutdown transitions.
Coach site teams and contractors on best practices in scoping, planning, and execution of Key Works.
Mentor teams on QA/QC frameworks, ensuring shutdown reliability and execution excellence.
Ensure adherence to quality standards, minimizing rework and maximizing performance.
Build strong partnerships with operational teams, ensuring alignment between shutdown execution and production ramp-up.
Work Management / Master Data to join our Centralised Shutdown Division, driving shutdown planning and master data excellence across our Pilbara operations.
