About the role

We are excited to announce an opportunity to join Rio Tinto Iron Ore’s central Business Improvement team who is looking for a Senior Advisor, SPS Support to join the team. Our Safe Production System pulls together our proven rituals and best practices and brings consistency and stability across our operations. It guides us on how we operate safely and simply, lead our people and continuously improve to become the best operator.

Fantastic opportunity to support in the delivery of the roadmap to meet the definition of success of Safe Production System (SPS) in Iron Ore. Focus on embedding, updating and optimising SPS standards and processes, provide expertise in how to effectively integrate SPS into business as usual (BAU) channels (including considerations around upskilling/cross-skilling, technology and systems), deliver projects to enable future sustainability, support site deployments and provide assurance.

You’ll be part of a supportive team, empowered by your leader, to grow and achieve your own personal goals as well as the objectives of the team. You’ll work on a Monday to Friday Perth based roster with flexible working arrangements which will give you more time to spend on the things that are important to you and the people in your life. 

Reporting to the Principal, SPS Support, you will:

  • Optimise and integrate SPS practices, tools, methods and assets into Iron Ore
  • Manage the implementation and deployment of new/enhanced SPS practices, improvement initiatives and design outcomes
  • Identify and lead improvement projects using your project management and business improvement expertise
  • Deliver projects to enable future sustainability of SPS
  • Design and deliver workshops to key stakeholders to support the sustainability component of SPS
  • Provide assurance of SPS practices using the Plan, Do, Check, Act (PDCA) framework and support with the coordination of the Operational Excellence Maturity Assessment (OEMA) schedule and process
  • Actively promote safety awareness and safe work practices, through practices; and ensure ongoing compliance with safety management systems.
  • View SPS through an operational lens to enhance deployment success; and guide deployment teams on the application best practices
  • Identify and deliver initiatives that support the development of capability, mindsets and behaviours to drive a growth mindset
  • Collaborate and partner with key stakeholders to optimise, integrate and sustain SPS practices and ways of working
  • Support with the governance required to report on and deliver against SPS objectives
  • Develop and deliver change, comms and engagement plans

This is a Perth based role working out of our Central Park CBD office building including ad-hoc travel to our operations and assets in the Pilbara.
