Operations near and far
Located in the Great Sandy Desert in East Pilbara, Western Australia, Telfer is a fly in out fly out operation from Perth which recognizes the importance of work-life balance. Our comfortable, well furnished rooms include Foxtel, and our site offers quality food with healthy options, medical care, sports and recreation activities. Families are welcomed several times a year to open days to support our community feel at Telfer.
Who we’re looking for:
Reporting into the Human Resource Superintendent, a permanent opportunity has arisen for a motivated and driven Senior Advisor –Training to lead and support a team of high performing Technical Training Advisors to provide training, assessment and advice to department and supervisors and individuals on the application of Newcrest safety systems and tools that minimise the risk of injury to employees and damage to equipment.
A function performed all whilst developing and maintaining working relationships with all site based contractors to ensure their staff are working in accordance with Newcrest standards, policies and procedures safely.
A few key responsibilities will include;
- Drive the development and maintenance of a safety culture through all training activity conducted at Telfer Operations
- Manage training programs and projects as directed by the HR Superintendent
- Conduct training needs analysis at individual operator level with a focus on Newcrest values and creating a safe and productive workforce
- In collaboration with the HR Superintendent and department supervisors develop and monitor department training plans
- Develop and maintain working relationships with all site based contractors to ensure their staff are working in accordance with Newcrest standards, policies and procedures safely
- Coordination of Trainee and Apprentices in collaboration with Supervisors
- Management of Learning Management System
You will be safety focused, team oriented, enable and drive continuous improvement and be willing to strive for results. Relationship building and strategic thinking are second nature to you.
Your ability to communicate effectively and collaborate at all levels in the organisation will work towards achievement of desired outcomes and engagement of your team and key stakeholders. Ideally you will also have the following:
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (essential)
- Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety (desirable).
- Detailed working knowledge of WHS Act
- Demonstrated experience in competency-based training and assessment methods.
- Previous exposure to incident investigation, auditing processes and workplace inspections. (desirable)
- Experience with SAP, Success Factors (highly desirable)
- Ability to communicate effectively and build relationships within all levels of the business.
- Minimum “C” class unencumbered drivers licence.

Someone who is able to ensure absolute compliance with legal requirements and company objectives, whilst also providing support to develop, coach and mentor team members to continuously improve their knowledge, skills and relationship interactions.
Please note: This is a permanent role, FIFO from Perth Telfer on an 8 days on/6 off roster
