About the Role

In this role you will ensure the safe and efficient conduct of Aerodrome Operations in accordance with BHP Aviation Management Procedures. This role is FIFO from Perth based at one of our WAIO Aerodromes, duties outlined below:

  • Overseeing aerodrome conditions and associated maintenance of accurate and compliant records
  • Conduct daily and non-routine aerodrome serviceability inspections and ARO duties as per CASA regulations
  • Supervising aerodrome remedial works (Works Safety Officer Duties)
  • Transmission of Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) to Air services
  • Management of flight line operations including aircraft marshalling, refuelling, fuel quality control, baggage handling, passenger control and aerodrome traffic scheduling
  • Delivery of airport Terminal Operations - passenger check-in, radio calls and completion of flight manifests, load sheets, operational liaison with aircraft crew and staff from both mine and aircraft operations.
  • Understanding and management of the BHP Material Risk for Aviation by active Field Leadership through Critical Control Observations & PTO’s
  • Aerodrome Maintenance – Line Marking, Slashing/Mowing/Brush Cutting/Pruning, RWY & Apron Sweeping, Weed Management, minor fence repairs, etc.
  • Daily & Weekly GSE Checks/Minor Maintenance
  • Daily & Weekly Housekeeping duties (Terminal, Offices, storerooms, containers, inventory checks, Carpark, etc.
  • Conduct Airport Inductions for contractors, new staff and visitors.
  • Airport Emergency Response – participate in aerodrome emergency response training with a focus on aviation emergency response.
  • Airport Security – awareness of dangerous goods screening and airport security requirements
  • Managing dangerous goods movements

About You

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a similar role leading teams
  • Aerodrome Reporting Officer / Works Safety Officer (ARO/WSO) Qualification
  • Aeronautical Radio Operator Certificate (AROC)
  • Dangerous Goods Awareness Certificate
  • Airline Ground Handling Experience (Virgin, Alliance, Skippers, Cobham, etc)
  • Airline Trainer Credentials (desirable but not essential)
  • Air Freight Processing experience
  • Manual driver’s license
  • Aircraft Refuelling experience (desirable but not essential)
