Senior Analyst Risk and Assurance

Role overview:
The Senior Analyst Risk and Assurance is a key contributor in the Function’s delivery of professional risk and assurance services to management and the Board. Working with colleagues from across the Group, which encompasses both Fortescue’s Iron Ore business and Fortescue Future Industries (FFI) globally, the Senior Analyst Risk and Assurance leverages their experience and professional training to engender confidence in the advice the Function provides in the following areas:
- Risk Management: developing and facilitating the implementation of robust risk management strategies in line with the Fortescue Risk Management Standard; designing and facilitating risk workshops on a range of topics to identify and assess Fortescue’s material risks; and undertaking analyses of current, evolving and emerging material risks to provide insights reporting to management and the Board.
- Assurance: supporting the development and delivery of risk-based, value-adding internal audit plans; analysing business processes to identify key risks and evaluating the design and operating effectiveness of related internal controls; evaluating the effectiveness of critical controls over material risks; and identifying opportunities that contribute to sustainable improvements in governance, risk management and internal controls or business productivity.
Key responsibilities include:
Working in collaboration with the other members of the GRAI team, the role will be varied and flexible and include the following responsibilities:
- Support the delivery of internal audits related to Fortescue’s material risks, governance and internal control environments. In doing so, support innovation and provide assurance on the sustainability of these processes to senior stakeholders;
- Contribute to the delivery of high quality audit projects in accordance with professional standards with positive business impact, on schedule and within approved budgets;
- Undertake hands-on audit procedures as a core accountability;
- Act as a catalyst for organisational improvement through internal audit recommendations that are prudent, sustainable and provide business benefits. Secure management buy-in for the changes through effective collaboration and follow-up to ensure that agreed internal audit actions have been implemented;
- Support the design and facilitation of risk workshops and undertake independent analysis to support the management of the Group’s material risks;
- Provide advice to the business on matters associated with risk management, business resilience, and internal control;
Education and Experience:
- In order to be considered for this opportunity, you will bring 6+ years’ experience in internal audit and risk management in a professional services environment to complement your university degree in commerce, computer science or engineering and your professional auditing qualifications (CA, CPA, CIA, CISA, CPRM).
- Knowledge and practical application of ISO 31000 Risk Management and professional auditing standards is essential.
- This role will suit a candidate who is well organised, has strong interpersonal and communication skills, can work independently, is innovative and resourceful in solving problems and has a strong focus on quality and customer service. Knowledge and experience in mining, energy or industrial operations is preferred. Exposure to manufacturing and associated risks will also be favourably viewed.
- Your maturity, decisiveness and strong emotional intelligence will see you succeed in this position, as will your previous experience in the provision of advice to Executive teams.
- The role will require domestic and international travel.
