The Senior Architect – Cloud Infrastructure will provide Cloud Platform architectural, design guidance and direction to evolve the Cloud Platform as a Product providing development teams, Product Teams, application owners a stable, evolving, and efficient environment that they can build their solutions upon. Utilizing experience, knowledge and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with Solution Architects, Product Owners throughout the organization to achieve common goals, leveraging the Cloud Platform in providing value to the business. This role is an excellent opportunity for an individual that is highly motivated, enthusiastic about Cloud technology, and enjoys collaboration with others in realizing common goals.

Reporting to the Manager – Cloud Architecture & Adoption, you will:

• Contribute as the Product Owner – Cloud Adoption and Platform Architecture, providing guidance from an Architecture perspective for the muti-cloud environment (Primary Azure / Secondary AWS);
• Empowered to take initiative and evolve the architectural aspects of the Rio Tinto Cloud Platform as a Platform Architect;
• Collaborate, engage with leaders throughout the organization providing guidance and consultation to aid them in their Cloud journey;
• Assist in building a community of Cloud Architects providing a collaborative environment for sharing experience, knowledge, patterns, solution designs;
• Champion and help establish, evolve the Cloud Adoption Framework;
• Engage with solution architects in various teams (PMO, Application Teams, Product Teams) to provide consultation and guidance in their development of high quality solution designs;
• Evolve the Cloud Design governance forum, provide solution design consultation for projects / Product Teams, establish criteria for design reviews to ensure solutions designs are well architected and optimized for the platform;
• Develop position papers, governance, and best practice articles;
• Demonstrate commitment to HSE and Rio Tinto’s core values;
• Perform tasks consistent with corporate and operational processes and practice (e.g., track, escalate, report and address requests, incidents, demand, projects, and supporting processes to ensure the effectiveness of service levels, KPIs, and business value)

What you will bring

• BSc/MSc in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, related field, or relevant work experience;
• 5+ years of experience as a Cloud Solution Architect;
• Hands-on experience designing solutions on the Microsoft Azure Cloud platform (Primary Environment);
• Deep knowledge of Azure Cloud services;
• Some experience designing solutions on the Amazon Web Services Cloud platform (Azure is our primary cloud provider);
• Experience working in environments managed via automation / devops practices;
• Great collaboration skills, strong communication skills;
• Self-motivated and comfortable with empowerment;
• End-to-end process analysis and design skills;
• Action oriented approach;
• Azure Solution Architect Expert Certification (Minimum)
