The Opportunity – Senior Assurance (Materials Production) – Based in Collie – 9-day fortnight working arrangement

The purpose of this role is to identify opportunities for continuous improvement that support the Production function priorities to achieve and maintain the predictable, stable and required levels of operating performance within HSEC requirements. Coordinate the portfolio of work of a specialist team and support their development.

Our integrated Bauxite Mine, Alumina Refinery and Port Operation is creating the essential products needed for a sustainable low carbon future.
This role will be offered on a Permanent basis.
Location
This role will be based at our Worsley Alumina Refinery which is a short drive from Collie (15 minutes), Bunbury (35 minutes) and other nearby scenic communities.
As there is no accommodation on site, you will be required to drive in, drive out on a daily basis. Employees ideally live within an hour’s drive of Collie.
Accountabilities
Primary responsibilities are to:
- Lead a small team of process specialists. (30% leading: 70% doing work)
- Hold a leadership role with the Materials Production team
- Work collaboratively with Superintendents to build a safe, inclusive culture that looks to improve every day
- Responsible for supporting delivery of the reported events investigations in accordance with management policies and investigation methodologies
- Govern process standards, procedures and work instructions for the Materials Department
- Supports implementation and adherence to Operating System practices
- Analyses process performance and completes benchmarking to identify improvements that will deliver the most value
- Support budgeting process for the department
- Identifies inefficiencies in the execution of work and provides coaching for teams
- Manages and reports on training profiles on a department level
- Delivery of task-based coaching for the Materials team and coaching to supervisors to achieve compliance to their competency profiles
About You
- Demonstrate a safety and risk reduction mindset, inclusiveness, operating discipline and improvement focus
- Strong leadership capabilities including meeting facilitation, task assignment, process development, change management and embedment through operating system discipline
- Ability to grasp concepts of operations, driving improvements opportunities and business cases
- Demonstrated proficiency with MS office suite - Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Specific operational experience, skills and knowledge of the materials handling or refinery operations is desirable but not essential
- Experience in data analysis, interrogation and developing actionable plans to achieve business outcomes will be highly regarded
- Previous leadership of a small team of professionals is desirable but not essential
