Cadia Valley Operations is located in Central Western New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional township of Orange and a convenient three hours from the capital city of Sydney. Employees reside in varied accommodation options in and around the district of Orange with the surrounding area’s occupied by winery’s, stone fruit orchards, farming and national parks.

Who we are looking for

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Business Analysts; keen to join our Mining Projects team based at Cadia to support a significant mine expansion development project.

Reporting to the Superintendent – Project Controls, the Senior Business Analyst will be accountable for providing financial and commercial support to the mining projects team, with a key focus on business planning, month-end reporting, cost analysis, forecasting and project performance reporting.

With exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, you will be able to effectively convey financial and commercial concepts across all levels of the business and play a key role in supporting sound commercial and operational decision-making.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead project reporting and process improvements and efficiencies
  • Provide leadership, guidance and management to a team of two Business Analysts
  • Provide cost leadership and guidance to the greater Mining Projects team
  • Maintain project SAP PCS data including project WBS structures; accurate recording of project actual and forecast data, in accordance with financial and project governance requirements
  • Maintain project Assets Under Construction reconciliation, prepare project tax reporting and carry out asset capitalisation processes
  • Maintain project rules and processes for the allocation and transfer of project activity-based costs and ensure project allocations and month-end cost close are carried out in-line with project and site requirements
  • Consolidation and reporting of activity-based forecasts into project WBS based structures
  • Preparation of project reports at a SAP WBS level and external project reporting
  • Preparation of Ad-Hoc reporting or modelling requests

To succeed and thrive in this role, you will ideally have tertiary-level qualifications in Accounting/Finance/Commerce or related discipline, CPA/CA Certification (or working towards) and demonstrated experience in providing commercial and business partnering support.

Additionally, you will also have:

  • Previous experience in a similar Business Analyst or Management Accountant role
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to communicate effectively around financial results
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly MS Excel; SAP experience desirable
  • A strong knowledge of key business drivers and analysis
  • Demonstrated stakeholder management skills
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering financial and commercial information and concepts to non-financial operational stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to work collaboratively with senior stakeholders and be proactive in a complex environment with strict timelines
