Senior Capital Accountant

Work Location: Perth. Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

Roster:  Monday to Friday

Role overview:

Reporting to the Manager Capital Accounting, this role will support the group capital function and lease accounting.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assist with maintaining the fixed asset register, including project creation and project close out, capitalisations, depreciation, amortisation, asset disposal and balance sheet reconciliation.
• Coordinate month end capital accounting finalisation and reporting including journal postings, project cost reconciliation with general ledger and financial statement note preparation.
• Lead capital project reviews in support of the capital forecasting and budgeting process.
• Support the development, implementation and compliance of group capital policies and guidelines.
• Oversee lease accounting, providing support for contract review, lease identification and valuation.

Education and Experience: 

• CPA or CA qualification with 5 years post-graduation experience.
• SAP experience preferable.
• Previous capital accounting, project accounting or fixed asset experience, with a good understanding or PPE, Exploration, Intangibles and Lease accounting policy.
• Major Resources experience highly desirable.
