We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Capital Advisor who enjoys capital planning and providing financial guidance in support of efficient capital project delivery. The role requires strong engagement with site stakeholders to inform accurate and timely reporting, forecasting, and analysis of capital plans and forecasts. Key to your success in this role will be your ability to effectively support a portfolio that is well planned, whilst identifying opportunities for improvement, in line with business direction.

Reporting to the Engineering Principal and working in a challenging and dynamic environment within the Sustaining Capital team, you will be:
- Supporting key stakeholders across Rio Tinto Iron Ore in their capital analysis, planning, and prioritisation;
- Contributing the development of business, commercial, and financial acumen among our senior leaders and other key stakeholders, to support sound capital planning;
- Coordinating and facilitating the short- and long-term capital plans for the asset portfolio ensuring that a business risk model is applied to the plan and refined as needed;
- Facilitating regular forums and workshops to communicate business decisions to leaders and stakeholders across the Rio Tinto Iron Ore network;
- Reviewing and communicating actual capital expenditure against forecast to assist business forecasting accuracy and compliance to planned spend;
- Delivering high quality data-based insights and analysis for leaders to enable well informed decisions and enhance business performance;
- Preparing and presenting analysis on portfolio and program opportunities to deliver effective and sustained capital efficiencies;
What you’ll bring
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Finance, Engineering or similar. CA / CPA preferred. A relevant postgraduate qualification is highly desirable;
- Financial evaluation and analysis, including high levels of competence in MS Excel. Power BI skills highly desirable;
- Extensive experience in capital planning and project management experience desirable; exposure to portfolio management of projects at several phases of development from Initiation, Prefeasibility, Feasibility, Implementation to Close Out;
- Stakeholder engagement and effective communication & interpersonal skills;
- Detail oriented, process driven with a drive for continuous improvement;
- Ability to manage large, complex data sets with the ability to analyse and distil this information into a concise message;
- A self-starter, having the ability to work as part of a team or independently.

The position is based in Central Park, Perth CBD. Our team actively encourages and supports flexible work. This includes workdays, hours and location, in addition to flexible and part-time work schedules. Occasional site travel will be required.
