Senior Category Specialist - Wind
Work location: Australia
Roster: Monday to Friday
Reports to Strategic Procurement Lead, Global Procurement, the primary purpose of this role is to support the contracts and procurement function for FFI, leading strategic sourcing, contract execution, delivery and close out as well as assisting with category strategy development for strategic procurement activities supporting FFI’s portfolio of major wind power projects globally.
The Senior Category Specialist Wind requires close collaboration with wind turbine Original Equipment Manufacturers and the internal departments such as projects development and delivery teams, engineering, legal and other subject matter experts.
Key accountabilities and responsibilities:
- Implement category sourcing and contracting strategies
- Develop, coordinate and evaluate tender packages for wind turbine supply, installation, balance of plant, installation, and operations & maintenance
- Negotiate contract terms and conditions, to support establishment of frame agreements and project agreements
- Conduct sourcing activities in accordance with established Project Controls and Contracts and Procurement policies and procedures
- Develop well written, well-structured category, contracting and sourcing documentation that supports FFI’s global business plan
- Identify and deliver structural cost saving initiatives
- Build relationships with strategic contractors. Implement performance monitoring and optimisation initiatives
- Develop, negotiate, implement and manage strategic contracts
- Contract administration to support execution, including correspondence, contract notices, claims mitigation, assessment and resolution
- Undertake analysis and give advice to support strategic procurement decision-making & business planning
- Identify assess, and mitigate key risks and seek input from other functions as appropriate (e.g. technical, legal etc.)
- Generate reports on portfolio activity to meet organisational compliance requirements and provide access to procurement information
- Work as part of the team to deliver value through competitive sourcing and effective contract management
Qualifications and skills required:
- Bachelor’s degree in commerce, business, law, engineering or construction desirable
- 7+ years’ experience in contracting and procurement within major projects or category management, preferably in utility-scale renewable energy / projects
- Experience developing and delivering onshore wind contracts would be an advantage
- Strategic mindset, lateral thinker, strong commercial acumen
- Excellent ability to build networks and strategic supplier relationships
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment across multiple work packages
- Attention to detail. Desire to be challenged, learn & adapt
- Respectful manner with others
- Understands the importance of stakeholder relationships and can engage effectively with engineers, legal, quality management, project controls and logistics to co-ordinate and ensure contractual delivery parameters are met
- Self-driven and takes initiative to progress, deliver and build innovative approaches to own and team/unit work
