Reporting to the Engineering Manager in Rio Tinto’s Renewable Energy Project team the Senior Civil & Structure engineer, Wind and Solar Energy will ensure safe and successful project delivery. The role is delivery focused, with the key outcome being the handover of front-end design and project engineering work.

Key duties include

  • Lead allocated work packages.
  • Development of engineering deliverables
  • Develop technical specifications and coordinate engineering activities for the project life cycle.
  • Support project development activities, from early stages through project completion
  • Own and manage site constraint maps, layouts, designs, and system specifications,
  • Manage and coordinate scope, schedule, and cost for site technical diligence
  • Supports engagement and performance of external engineering contractors.
  • Responsible for the civil and structural design of sites
  • Works with project planning and scheduling to develop and maintain the project schedule.

About You

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years’ industry experience
  • Strong understanding of civil design of renewable facilities and proven design experience in renewable infrastructure
  • Highly developed problem solving skills and the ability to quantify risk and opportunities around unknowns in design and technology
  • Knowledgeable on EPC construction standards, codes, and techniques.
  • Working knowledge of photovoltaic technology, trackers, inverters, wind turbines, and battery storage systems.
  • Demonstrated project engineering experience in leading project development in study and execution.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Where you will be working

This role will be based at our Wesley Centre or central park office based in the Perth CBD with occasional site travel.
