Title: Senior Commercial Analyst – Green Industry

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Commercial Analyst to drive the commercial outcomes for the green industry business and support the green industry team in the acceleration of its project portfolio and technology deployment.
The Senior Commercial Analyst will lead the analytic and economic assessment of opportunities to effectively meet organisational and business objectives in accordance with FFI’s strategy. You will work closely with project teams to frame investment decisions, source information from technical experts and provide the business with insightful analysis and key recommendations to support commercial decisions. This role will provide you with the opportunity to undertake detailed financial and commercial analysis across a range of Green Industry related investment opportunities.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Guide opportunity framing for investment decisions
- Build and operate economic models (primarily using Microsoft Excel) to perform valuation analysis in support of major investment decisions and commercial negotiations
- Identify and clearly communicate analytical insights to add value and inform the direction of the business
- Prepare reports and presentations for senior management and director audiences
- Work with multidisciplinary teams and manage a diverse set of stakeholders
- Support functional excellence initiatives to improve efficiency and quality of analysis and associated tools
- Coach and support junior analysts
- Provide a proactive role in the due diligence process for potential opportunities
- Prepare management reports and presentations to seek funding for project development, working closely with other team within Fortescue
- Developing and communicating best practice commercial tools for use across the FFI businesses and regions
- Providing clear recommendations, underpinned by sound business cases (intimate knowledge of project / opportunity economics) focused on long term value creation
Qualifications and skills required:
- You will have a tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering or other related discipline. This will be complemented by relevant time (>5 years) in the energy sector, investment banks and/or large consulting / advisory firms.
- Exposure to the energy industry will be valuable, but we will consider people from other industries where you are able to demonstrate considerable transaction experience.
- You will have an in depth understanding of valuation methodologies and value drivers, including discounted cash flow, trading multiples, comparable transactions, risk analysis and corporate financial analysis.
- You will understand the importance of getting it right, with a track record of providing high quality, accurate and robust analysis for decision making purposes, with the experience to discern the level of detail that is fit-for-purpose for the decision at hand.
- Your experience developing concise and informative board and executive level communications will demonstrate your ability to ensure valuation analysis effectively guides the decision
- Ability to assess feasibility and soundness of commercial opportunities quickly and efficiently
- Ability to autonomously build and operate detailed commercial models
- Project finance, debt financing experience advantageous
- Demonstrated ability to influence people and projects, contributing to not only commercial delivery but also influencing other areas of the business and company to achieve success
- High levels of self-motivation
- Ability to be agile and resilient when managing diverse workloads with multiple priorities, and delivering work to a high quality and on time
