Senior Communications Specialist, Iron Ore
Work Location: Hedland Operations. Fortescue’s Hedland Operations are located on the traditional lands of the Kariyarra people.
Roster: 4 days on / 3 days off
Working as part of the Communications and Brand team, closely aligned to the Hedland Operations team, your role is to drive and support a clear, unified message with a simple effective narrative to our internal and external stakeholders.
The role will focus on Hedland Operations including Port, Rail and Community, delivering engaging and innovative content across our platforms to support local and company-wide objectives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and executing communications strategies, relevant to the local community and workforce and proactively create and source content for internal and external communications platforms
- Support crisis communications at a local and global level, as the operations lead and manage on-site events to support milestones and foster culture
- Drive and support external community events to support brand, global narrative and reputation management
- Mentor and train leaders with public speaking and presentation delivery and establish trusted and reliable relationships with key stakeholders at all levels of the business
- Graphic design skills are preferred, to support delivery of high-quality, engaging material
- Ensure all content is produced in line with global communications, brand and market disclosure guidelines and our Values
Education and Experience:
- 3+ years demonstrated experience is essential, relevant tertiary qualification preferred
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities and tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Proven capability in influencing relationships and driving collaboration to achieve results
- Experience in Adobe Creative Suite required
- Understanding of mining operations and green energy industries preferred
