Senior Communities Advisor

Work Location: Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people.

Roster: Monday – Friday (12 month contract)

To successfully develop its renewable energy projects globally, FFI aims to meet international standards relating to the identification and management of the social risks and opportunities for local communities through local content and social performance strategies.

We are seeking to engage a high-calibre social performance practitioner, with experience in the energy and resources sectors. This role will be 50% social performance and 50% local content. You will support a selection of projects in the global portfolio to meet social performance requirements, including international standards and good practice guidance. In addition, you will advance local content planning and initiatives for select projects, in collaboration with communities, procurement, HR and project teams.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Screening new energy / hydrogen projects for social risks and opportunities, in collaboration with our Environment team and others.
  • Develop stakeholder engagement plans, social impact assessment scopes of work, and assist with other community-related assessments and plans for projects
  • Ensure regional project teams understand internal and external SP requirements applicable to their portfolio and provide direction and support to ensure adherence.
  • Screening new energy / hydrogen projects for local content and labour law regulations and obligations.
  • Supporting contractor strategies relating to local content requirements for FEED and EPC contracts
  • Interface with relevant internal stakeholders to advance local content planning
  • Mentor, train and develop the capacity of international teams on social performance and local content
  • Deliver required social performance and local content reports, as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience with strong local content and social performance experience
  • Degree in relevant social sciences field – economics, international relations and/or community development
  • Significant international experience, including in developing / emerging economies, in the design, development, and delivery of industry leading good practice.
  • Experience working internationally in Environmental  and Social Impact Assessment teams, adhering to IFC performance standards, or similar.
  • Experience in community engagement and/or development.
  • Understanding workforce and supply chain development planning.
