Location

Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is a South32 Company, the operation is accountable for over 20% of the world’s manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

The Opportunity

This role is a 4/3 Roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns or Residential

The purpose of this role is to set the direction and provide leadership to the Contractor Management team in executing the Contractor Management System of Work for GEMCO. The position act as a steward for the Contractor Management standard and procedures for GEMCO.

Accountabilities

• Lead, coach and shape the culture of the GEMCO Contractor Management team.

• Maintain and coach the team to have in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of Contractors, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance, partnering with Supply function.
• Manages the implementation of Contractor Management improvement plans that improves overall effectiveness of the Operation or Function
• Provide governance over the Supplier Management Plan process (This includes but not limited to Contract Review meetings, Vendor Management processes, Vendor Assessments, HSEQ plans delivery etc.)
• Govern the appointment and database for stakeholders in the Contractor Management System of Work.
• Owns the GEMCO training content for Contractor Management and ensures delivery of the training framework for Contractor Management System of Work.

Experience required

• Experience working with governance or contractor management in mining or related industry
• Experienced in Contractor Management process ensuring alignment with supply/operations/risk management process.
• Proven history in delivering change within an operating environment

Qualifications

• Preferable – tertiary qualification in a relevant degree
• Experience in Operations or Projects that involved management of Contractors preferred.
