Role Title:  Senior Data Engineer

Work Location: Perth

Roster: Monday to Friday

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer with experience with large cloud-based data systems to develop data pipelines and data products. Working within a data team sitting in the Capital Optimisation division of FFI, the team works closely with Engineering, Projects, and the wider technology team at FMG. Our team develops data pipelines, systems and products which have a significant impact on the future of FFI projects.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Develop and maintain high quality data pipelines
  • Scope, design and build data applications to service data for end users
  • Deploy cloud infrastructure through infrastructure as code (Cloud Formation, Terraform)
  • Build medium to large features independently
  • Write documentation and track code in source control

Qualifications and skills required:

  • At least 4 years of work experience in similar roles
  • Advanced SQL for extracting, querying, writing scripts and relational databases are essential; Snowflake and dbt experience highly regarded
  • Professional experience using Python
  • Knowledge of and experience with data-related Python packages
  • Demonstrably deep understanding of SQL, analytical data warehouses (Snowflake preferred), data pipeline and data orchestration tools (e.g. dbt, Airflow, Step Functions)
  • AWS development experience
  • Strong desire to innovate, problem solve and approach work with new ideas while helping and coaching others
  • Excellent verbal and written skills including technical writing
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with internal stakeholders
  • Familiarity with web development for data tools highly regarded
  • Familiarity with renewable energy favourable
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or related discipline
