About the Role
The role can be based in Brisbane or Perth
In this role, you will lead the end-to-end process for enabling access to BHP data assets / utilities and work closely with BHP data risk owners and risk control owners to help them implement the appropriate controls to mitigate data related risks such as release of PII (Personally Identifiable Information) data.
The key aspects / responsibilities of this role are:
- Provide input into strategic direction and ensure alignment of data domain owner responsibilities as it relates to risk management and data security controls.
- Have a clear understanding of the BHP risk framework and Privacy by Design framework
- Understand the end-to-end data access process
- Understand and lead the implementation of standards and processes across data platforms that will audit user access and ensure the data related risk controls can be continually monitored for deficiencies.
- Lead the work on enabling Role Based Access to data
- Work with the Principal Data Modelling Engineer to ensure data is appropriately tagged to enable clear understanding of data classifications.
- Design and enable data security related controls, processes and standards
- Work with the Data Privacy Office and Data Strategy teams to develop, implement and embed enterprise data policies / standards
About You
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- Proven experience in data security engineering or a related role.
- Familiarity with cloud security, especially in AWS/Azure/GCP environments.
- Experience with SQL, Python, PowerBI (or similar).
- Experience in data governance tooling
- Strong understanding of authentication and authorization techniques
- Proficiency in security tools and technologies.
- Knowledge of risk frameworks, controls, risk treatment.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of security frameworks, standards, and best practices.
- Knowledge and understanding of data management best practices (DMBOK)
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CDMP, CISSP, CISM, CEH) are a plus.
