The Automation Development team in Group Technical – Services and Delivery works across a broad range of unique mining technologies that include machine automation projects such as the Autonomous Drilling System, real-time data platforms and 3D visualisation systems.
About the role
In the role of Senior Database Administrator (Postgres) you will be joining the Digital Infrastructure and DevOps team responsible end to end systems and application support and management. From assisting developers through to release management and production support. The role shall report to the Principal Advisor – DevOps & Infrastructure, and shall undertake duties including:
- Managing and maintaining Postgres databases within our group
- Document and review support processes and procedures
- Performance management and tuning across all databases systems
- Assist development teams with query optimisation and code reviews
- Responsible for schema version control across release rollout
- Database capacity planning and management
- Maintain uptime and integrity of Postgres Replication
Desirable skills and experience
- Commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- Database: Postgres (preferably geospatial databases), MSSQL
- Postgres Replication
- Postgres Partitioning
- Linux administration
- Exposure to Azure/AWS
- Flyway schema management and Database migration
- DevOps/Config management Engineer (Puppet/Ansible)
- Experience with TimescaleDB, Mongo, CouchDb (not essential)
- Monitoring tools: Nagios, PGWatch, Grafana
- Version control (GIT)
