We are seeking a Senior Delivery Manager to develop and continuously improve world-class capabilities within the IT delivery team.

Our Senior Delivery Manager will promote and lead our delivery culture. Take care for and nurture the growth of our team members to ensure they are inspired by a sense of purpose, continually building their mastery and autonomy.

You will be responsible for building world class capability in our Asia Pacific delivery chapter with equal focus on major projects (construction, closure and feasibility), global programs (e.g. Workday) and regional projects as the capability we wish to develop.

As our preferred applicant you will play a critical role in steering both the technical and strategic aspects of project management within Rio Tinto.

Your comprehension of cultural distinctions is crucial, as it influences task execution. Moreover, you will be tasked with facilitating communication ensuring a seamless flow of information.

Reporting to the Chief Advisor, PMO RTHQ Australia, accountabilities of the role will include:

  • Create and maintain psychologically safe team environments for members to grow and thrive.
  • Ensure a strong depth of capability by providing personnel required to deliver in each of the three areas of major projects, global programs and regional projects.
  • Establish standards and practices in line with health and safety standards, working closely with HSE and the PMO and delivery leads.
  • Uses data and customer feedback to monitors projects on an ongoing basis, evaluates progress/quality and manages issue resolution.
  • Ensures growing capability to be placed in regions for new projects.
  • Conducts standard program and project management activities such as project monitoring, assurance, metrics management and intervention when required. Determines project priorities in conjunction with key stakeholders and ensures appropriate personnel availability.
  • Chapter leadership accountabilities include developing and continuously improving the chapter with a deliberate and structured pathway for the types of projects, leveraging the people capability model.
  • Provide strategic execution and operational leadership.
