Senior Design Engineer – Water Infrastructure Projects
Work Location: Perth. Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: Monday to Friday
As part of our Operational Projects team, this person will take lead of our internal design team within our Water Infrastructure projects. They will take projects defined from the mine plan from design inception through to construction and provide technical support through construction and commission to the Project Managers and site team.
The role also involves supporting the Area Manger through resource planning for the overall water program to meet schedule deliverables, identification of long lead items through quarterly reviews and involvement in concept design for feasibility studies and other initiatives and opportunities for improvement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing design resources, progress and designer allocation against the project schedules and report on progress and risk to deliverables
- Undertake design reviews and sign off on design deliverable workflows such as drawings and work packs
- Provide technical support, guidance and troubleshooting to the broader design team and project team through design process and scope change
- Ensure work and designs are undertaken in accordance with FMG values and best for business approach. This includes driving initiatives with the Operations Team and other Stakeholders across the business
- Overall technical and design representation of the Water Infrastructure team and Dewatering Area Manager across projects and operational teams including identifying opportunities for improvement, study integration and design optimization
- Review of quarterly mine plan scope sheet and forecasting of design resources, design deliverables and long lead equipment forecasting to materials team for overall water program success.
Qualification and Experience:
- Degree qualified engineer with experience in hydraulic and pumping designs
- Experience managing a multi discipline team within the Resources sector.
- Strong commitment to health and safety
