Senior Engineer – Greater Nammuldi - FIFO

  • Lead a front line engineering team at one of Rio Tinto’s most dynamic sites

About the role

We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Senior Engineer to join our GNAM Engineering team at our Greater Nammuldi Operations. In this role, you will lead a multi-discipline team of mechanical & process engineers as well as condition monitoring technicians and will be responsible for one of the largest engineering teams in the Pilbara Mining Operation portfolio.

The ideal candidate for this role will have a strong knowledge base of processing engineering in a wet fixed plant setting with exposure to mechanical engineering and condition monitoring systems and processes also.

Reporting to the Superintendent Engineering, you will:

  • Support and develop a team of multi-disciplined Engineers in the delivery of process and mechanical engineering improvements and projects
  • Lead breakdown recovery team’s during critical asset failures
  • Prepare site parameters for business KPI and production targets
  • Prepare and distribute operating strategies and measure conformance to plan
  • Investigating deviations from plan, including identifying and recommending solutions
  • Perform plant troubleshooting, optimisation and continuous improvement
  • Provide expert technical advice to site operations and maintenance teams
  • Be the focal point for all engineering related queries in the fixed plant setting
  • Manage team deliverables and accountable for engineering actions and incidents
  • Recommend and implement tactics designed to support high levels of asset safety, reliability and integrity
  • Monitor and analyse the performance of our assets and analyse primary/ secondary maintenance tasks to improve asset reliability and cost 

What you’ll bring

To be successful in this role you will ideally have:

  • Proven experience leading engineering teams
  • Process engineering background with exposure to wet processing assets
  • Exposure to mechanical engineering within fixed plant settings will be advantageous
  • Radiation Safety Officer qualifications will be highly regarded
  • Experience in managing tailings dam compliance
  • Knowledge of compiling fixed plant production targets and metrics
  • Ability to mentor and develop graduate engineers
  • Experience in using PowerBi and Sharepoint
  • Experience in using SAP

Where you will be working

This position is based at our Greater Nammuldi Operations working a FIFO 5/2; 4/3 roster.

Located 60km north-west of Tom Price, Nammuldi is wholly owned and operated by Rio Tinto. The Greater Nammuldi Operations consist of Brockman 2, Nammuldi and Silvergrass plants. The point of hire for this role will be Terminal 2, Perth Airport.
