We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Senior Reliability Engineer to join our Maintenance Planning and Engineering team at our Hope Downs 1 site.
As the Senior Reliability Engineer you will lead a team of Reliability and Electrical and Control Engineers and be responsible for championing defect elimination and reliability engineering processes to improve the asset performance across both the fixed plant and mobile equipment.
Reporting to the Superintendent, Maintenance Planning and Engineering, this vital leadership role will be responsible for a small team of Electrical and Controls, Reliability and Project Engineers across both Fixed Plant and Mobile Equipment Maintenance. Key deliverables for the Senior Engineer will be to support the Safe Production System rollout, revamping the shut strategy of the plant and improve the Plant Reliability.
- Support and develop a team of multi-disciplined Engineers in the delivery of reliability engineering processes
- Provide expert technical advice to operations and maintenance teams
- Poses strong interpersonal skills to allow for productive interfaces with the site maintenance teams
- Lead and support investigations into asset failures and performance, including root cause analysis (RCA)
- Utilise performance data to identify high value defect elimination opportunities and implement improvements in reliability, productivity and cost
- Recommend and implement tactics designed to support high levels of asset safety, reliability and integrity
- Monitor and analyse the performance of our assets and analyse primary/ secondary maintenance tasks to improve asset reliability and cost

What you’ll bring
You will have tertiary qualifications in engineering or a related discipline, coupled with previous maintenance or reliability experience within a mining environment. You will be committed to demonstrating and promoting a positive safety culture and most importantly, you are someone who thrives on a challenge and is willing to be creative when solving technical problems.
With an ability to relate to a diverse range of stakeholders and operational teams, you will have experience effectively collaborating with others in order to drive successful outcomes. You will have previous experience leading an engineering team to accurately identify the root cause of issues, provide recommendations and implement change to support continuous improvement.
Practical experience and an understanding of asset management and reliability-based principles and processes such as RCA, FMECA and tactics development will be required. A working knowledge of statutory, Australian and Rio Tinto engineering standards will be advantageous, and a full ‘C’ class driver’s licence is essential. Prior experience with SAP and other maintenance and reliability software will be advantageous.

This position is based at our Hope Downs 1 operations working a FIFO 5/2; 4/3 roster.
