Position Title -  Senior Engineer Autonomy  

Work Location: Fortescue Centre & Bennett St. Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

Roster: Monday - Friday

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Implement vehicle perception system components that focus on performance, supportability, testability, safety, modularity, and redundancy.
  • Integrate third-party and in-house perception sub-systems with the overall robotics platform's interlocking mechanical, robotic and electronic/electrical components.
  • Develop efficient and reusable data conversion functionalities.
  • Write or revise technical documentation and non-technical documentation according to the specified standards so that it meets the needs of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform safety analysis and drive the development of complex safety-related functions.
  • Participate in defining and reviewing functional and non-functional requirements and software architecture discussions.

Education and Experience: 

  • Proven experience in perception systems development for robotic systems or mechatronic systems
  • Experience with system and sub-system modelling as part of the system design and validation lifecycle
  • Experience integrating various sub-systems into a larger cross functional platform (Mechanical, Electrical/Electronics and Software) will be most desirable
  • Significant understanding of modern C++ principles, practices, patterns, and frameworks
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Object-Oriented analysis and design, accompanying design patterns and best practices.
  • Modern C++ (17 preferred)
  • Experience with unit testing frameworks (GoogleTest)
  • Linux Operating systems (Debian-based preferred)
  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related subject area OR equivalent level of expertise gained from a combination of experience, training, or professional accreditation
