Senior Engineer - Balanced Machines

Work Location: Fortescue Centre & Bennett St. Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

Roster: Monday - Friday

Role overview:

The Senior Engineer - Balanced Machines will join a team of multidisciplinary team of engineers (Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, Fire Systems) in the Engineering, Drafting & Standards team to support the management of our balanced machine fleet. Our fleet of balanced machines include ThyssenKrupp stackers, reclaimers and shiploaders, and a DHHI stacker/reclaimer.

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Providing technical support for major maintenance including scoping and on-site support for major maintenance activities;
  • Providing support to our existing Operations by investigating equipment failures, providing direction & technical guidance to site stakeholders, supporting site teams during breakdown events, and coaching and mentoring of junior engineers;
  • Working with our procurement and inventory teams to source quality critical spares;
  • Assisting with continual improvement of Fortescue’s documented Procedures, Engineering Standards and Equipment Specifications to provide pragmatic best for business guidance to all Fortescue stakeholders;
  • Providing safety leadership to effectively identify and manage technical risks across Fortescue;
  • Leading to Machine Risk Management (MRMP) program to ensure asset integrity and safety of our balanced machines;
  • Providing technical support to our projects teams when new balanced machines are included in the scope.

Qualification and Experience: 

  • Bachelors degree in relevant engineering field
  • Significant experience as an Engineer working on the design, modification, operation and maintenance of balanced machines.
  • Design experience is essential. 
  • Strong knowledge of relevant Australian & Industry Standards
