Our Telfer operation in Australia is now recruiting for the position of Senior Engineer- Control Systems

Operations near and far

Located in the Great Sandy Desert in the East Pilbara region of WA, Telfer is a short two-hour flight from Perth. Working as a fly-in-fly-out (FIFO) operation, comprising of open pit and underground, you’ll be working 8 days on, 6 days off lifestyle. While at site Telfer offers a diverse range of recreational activities including a gym, swimming pool, driving range, movie room, and refurbished communal eatery.

Who are we looking for

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Engineer – Control Systems, to provide supervision to the Process Control Engineering team to implement and maintain the industrial automation systems utilised at Telfer.

With a team of up to 5 direct reports, you will ensure safe, reliable, and effective control & automation systems, whilst supervising day to day maintenance, troubleshooting and continuous improvement of process control systems across site.

Other key deliverables include:

  • Identifying & executing minor improvement projects.
  • Providing technical and statutory guidance and support to site.
  • Prioritising and managing the list of system reliability concerns and improvement projects.
  • Prioritising and managing the PCS Change Management System, change, and bridge registers
  • Working closely with metallurgy, operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to ensure the automation systems are aligned with site requirements
  • Supporting Reliability, Maintenance and Asset Management Best Practice

As the ideal candidate, you will be an experienced Senior Engineer with proven control systems knowledge, who enjoys technical challenges. You will have exceptional leadership skills from both a team and technical project perspective.

You will come from a background in mining, oil & gas, processing or other heavy industry. Through excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach, you will work seamlessly with various stakeholders to achieve the required operational, equipment and systems outcomes.

Other required skills and experiences include:

  • Proven Senior Leadership abilities
  • Operational site exposure
  • Experienced in Yokogawa CENTUM DCS and/or Rockwell ControlLogix PLC systems
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Manual Australian driver’s license (Essential)
  • Computer literate and advanced skills in the Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, MS Project, PowerPoint, Outlook, SAP)
