About the Role
We are currently recruiting a Senior Engineer Dams to work within our Engineering Governance and Technical Stewardship team at our Perth Office.
You will be required to provide a high level of technical support to stakeholders for WAIOs portfolio of Water Storage Facilities (WSF) and Tailing Storage Facilities (TSFs). The role focuses on reducing business risk, compliance with standards, improving reliability, asset integrity and performance through the utilisation of best in class technical support and engineering practices.
Reporting to the Superintendent Dams and Governance WAIO, you will be responsible for:
- Delivery of Global Industry Standard in Tailings Management GISTM for WAIO TSFs
- Ensuring governance of WSF and TSFs in the portfolio as per internal and external standards (ANCOLD/GISTM)
- Technical support to Operations with technical queries, risk management and blueprint updates
- Liaison with Engineering and Asset Level Project teams along different stages of project development to ensure designs meet engineering standards and are the right solution for the business
- Coordination of contracted services by consultancies and review of deliverables
- Improvement initiatives in relation to Dams asset management
- Coaching and mentoring to junior team members
- Root Cause Analysis/Investigations and improvement implementation
- Supporting Business case development for Operational and Capital expenditure
- Input to strategic direction for WAIOs DAMs portfolio
- Building an excellent working relationship with key stakeholders including Responsible Dam Engineers, Engineering Managers & Superintendents
- Provide risk-based advice to ensure continued safe operation of the DAMs portfolio
- Ensuring conformance with the BHP Charter, the BHP Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations
About You
The successful candidate will possess the following:
- An overriding commitment to health, safety and environmental responsibility.
- A proven track record of safety and risk management
- Minimum tertiary qualification in Civil, Geotechnical Engineering or other related field
- Site experience involving management of dam, civil, geotech or water related infrastructure assets
- Ability to work on multiple simultaneous tasks autonomously and develop good relationships with internal stakeholders, external customers and consultancies.
- Ability to communicate complex information in simple terms for management, including preparation of technical and non-technical documents.
- Familiarity with BHP processes and systems is desirable (e.g. MOC, SAP, AIMS, SPO, GRC)
- Experience with BHPs Risk Management framework is desirable.
