About the Role

As one of Australia’s largest mines and most complex minerals processing operations, it’s quite unique in that we produce Copper, Uranium, Gold and Silver. The local township of Roxby Downs is an active and progressive community offering a variety of modern, well-equipped housing, educational, health, sporting, leisure, shopping and cultural facilities.

Reporting to the Superintendent Dams, you will work within a team overseeing the integrity, safety, and governance of water and tailings storage dams at Olympic Dam. The Dams Team supports the operational teams for TSFs, Liquor and water dams, providing the technical skills and knowledge required for their safe and efficient operation. The team works on a range of continuous improvements projects and opportunities within the operations to improve dam integrity, work practices and procedures. It is essential you are able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with the dam operations teams, project teams, and other departments. This position is being offered as 5/2 4/3 FIFO from Adelaide to Olympic Dam or Residential at Roxby Downs with flexibility of working from home at times.

In this role, you will:

  • Respond to dam integrity issues, support operations with remedial actions;
  • Critical control ownership, activities & verifications;
  • Interpret data related to the safe operation of the dam;
  • Management of contractors & consultants to deliver value;
  • Identify safe operational practices, including field leadership activities;
  • Share knowledge, contacts, experience & expertise in order to provide for the safety of the dams;
  • Ensure all statutory reporting requirements are met, and;
  • Interface between operations & other functions, such as projects, planning, environment, risk.

About You

  • Bachelor degree in Geotechnical, Civil, Mining, or other tertiary qualifications relating to water management such as Hydrology, Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering;
  • Experience in Tailings or water dam management, dam assessment, general water management, or hydrological assessment;
  • Previous mining experience; and
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills & the ability to communicate effectively across multiple levels and disciplines.
