About the role

We are looking for a Senior Engineer Decision Support to support Operational Technology applications currently used within the Rio Tinto Operations Centre. As a preferred candidate of this role, you will be accountable for the configuration management and support over a dozen products. You will also be responsible in mentoring and guiding an operational team of system engineers. This will include managing changes, guiding, and teaching engineers, as well as being the technical lead and technical owner of the existing products.

Reporting to the Superintendent Operation Centre, and working in an exciting and collaborative environment within our Information System & Technology (IS&T) function, your duties include but not limited to:

• Working within an engineering team to support the 30+ software systems and applications used across our business
• Configuration and ongoing maintenance of the applications to ensure they are providing appropriate functionality to the business
• Ensuring the applications are up to date and managed with capacity and supportability in mind and implementing improvements to these applications
• Developing and implementing system solutions
• Implementing methodologies, documentation and delivery toolsets for Corporate and Production environment
• Providing technical input to project scoping, planning and implementation phases
• Creating documentation for off the shelf applications supported by the team

What you’ll bring

• A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
• Bachelor’s degree qualification (IT or Engineering) or relevant industry experience
• Several years of experience in system engineering or mining experience around fixed plants supporting similar applications
• Experience with OSI Soft PI Historian and Ampla Delay Accounting
• Experience in administering Windows Server
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server (or general SQL experience)
• Strong ability to guide and mentor other team members to solve problems

It will also be beneficial if you have:

• Experience with Wonderware System Platform and P2 Explorer
• Experience with Azure Cloud or Azure DevOps
• Knowledge or experience in Agile methodologies
