About the Role
Reporting to the G&TS Mechanical & Process Lead, you will be responsible for providing deep specialist technical expertise to the Olympic Dam Operation - a complex mining and metals processing operation in the far North of South Australia. This will include providing engineering assessments and designs to support safety and productivity improvements.
This position is offered on a 5/2 roster based in Adelaide with regular (approximately weekly) travel to Olympic Dam expected. You must be an Adelaide resident or be willing to relocate before commencing. A residential 5/2 roster based in Roxby Downs may be considered.
In this role you will:
- Be a visible safety leader and have experience engaging with all levels of the operation
- Work in a highly respected team with a culture of helpfulness and trust to create value
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to solve complex problems
- Generate and review designs, technical assessments and reports to communicate requirements
- Provide specialist engineering expertise, ensure robust change control processes and documentation standards are followed
- Provide peer support, coaching and mentoring to ensure the success of the team
- Support and facilitate engineering activities across projects and operations to ensure consistent fit for purpose engineering standards are applied
- Drive ongoing improvement of the operation through identification and implementation of initiatives to support the business priority of continuous improvement
- Develop, review, update and approve the technical documentation (engineering standards, equipment standards, specifications, datasheets, procedures and drawings) from which the Operation is designed, constructed, operated and maintained.
- Establish and maintain close working relationships with relevant departments, suppliers, consultants and contractors
- Have a strong Sustainability in Design focus in all activities. Experience with HAZOPs and other risk identification and assessment methodologies would be an advantage
About You
- Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, which must have existing recognition by IEAust
- Solid understanding of Mechanical Engineering principles and extensive experience in mining, oil and gas or heavy industry appropriate to a mining and complex processing operation
- Well-developed communication and engagement skills with an interest in providing technical leadership, stewardship, support and solutions.
- Ability to influence all levels of the organisation
- Attention to detail, ‘out of the box’ thinking and finely tuned problem-solving skills. The ability to apply judgement based on the analysis of factual and qualitative information in complicated or novel situations
