About the Role

Working in our Fixed Plant Reliability team, you will identify and manage strategic improvements to the productivity of the Mine Fixed Plant materials handling system using structured tools such as bottle-neck analyses and value driver trees. You will manage the production forecasting for the materials handling system, providing guidance to Mine Planning team for integration into the three-month rolling plan, two-year budget, and five-year planning cycles.  As you challenge existing operating processes and lead change, you will provide coaching to team members on best practice data capturing and identify areas of improvements to the data capturing methods. Establishing and maintaining relationships with the maintenance and production teams will be critical to ensure success in this role.

Please note this position is based at Olympic Dam, operating on a 5/2 residential, or 5/2/4/3 FIFO (from Adelaide) roster.  BHP will support relocation if required.

In this role you will:

  • Provide forecast inputs to Mine Planning for the three-month rolling plan, two-year budget, and five-year planning cycles.
  • Conduct bottleneck analyses and identify system improvements to maximise equipment productivity, providing guidance to the reliability teams on priority constraints.
  • Coach team members on best practice data capturing to ensure quality
  • Coach team members on identifying and executing improvement projects
  • Conduct investigations on issues affecting productivity of equipment
  • Build business cases for capital improvement works
  • Analyse performance metrics and benchmarks performance across the function in other BHP businesses

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering
  • Experience in production forecasting
  • Experience in a mining/manufacturing environment
  • Experience in control systems/PLC coding
  • Experience working with data models/historians including data quality management
  • Experience with statistical analysis preferred
  • Exposure to SAP advantageous
  • Ability to define and manage projects from conception to completion
  • Ability to manage and lead change
  • Ability to influence, engage with, and communicate effectively across multiple levels, business units and functional areas
  • Ability to develop credibility across multiple levels and stakeholder groups
  • Inclusive team player that is proactive, self-driven, and accountable
