We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Senior Engineer to join our Fixed Plant team at Yandicoogina

You will lead a team of mechanical engineers and will be responsible for championing maintenance engineering processes in order to improve the fixed plant asset performance.

Reporting to the Superintendent Fixed Plant Maintenance, you will:

  • Support and develop a team of Engineers in the delivery of engineering processes and capital projects
  • Provide expert technical advice to the fixed plant operations and maintenance teams
  • Lead and support investigations into asset failures and performance
  • Utilise performance data to identify high value defect elimination opportunities and implement improvements in reliability, productivity and cost
  • Recommend and implement tactics designed to support high levels of asset safety, reliability and integrity
  • Support and develop a team of asset health professionals to monitor and improve the health of the assets
  • Ensure classified plant is inspected and maintained in accordance with legislation and standards

What you’ll bring

You will have tertiary qualifications in engineering or a related discipline, coupled with previous maintenance or reliability experience ideally within a mining environment. You will be committed to demonstrating and promoting a positive safety culture and most importantly, you are someone who thrives on a challenge and is willing to be creative when solving technical problems.

With an ability to relate to a diverse range of stakeholders and operational teams, you will have experience effectively collaborating with others, previous experience leading and managing a diverse portfolio of improvement projects and enjoy working in a hands-on fast paced environment in order to drive successful outcomes.

A working knowledge of statutory, Australian and Rio Tinto engineering standards will be advantageous, and a full ‘C’ class driver’s licence is essential. Prior experience with SAP and other maintenance and reliability software will be highly regarded

Where you will be working

This position is based at our Yandicoogina Operations working a FIFO 5 days on, 2 off/ 4 days on, 3 off roster.

Located 95km north-west of Newman, Yandicoogina offers a range of fly in fly out rosters. As one of Australia's largest-producing iron ore mines; operating a fleet of autonomous trucks and drills, it generates more than 55 million tonnes of Hammersley Iron Yandi (HIY) fines each year.
